Getting Cozy…

I’ve been feeling sick these past few days and as a result have been drinking a lot of tea. Tea always makes me feel better. To take a break from marathoning Friends on my couch with chicken noodle soup, I decided to make a coffee cozy, two actually! They are so easy, especially for the beginner crocheter (or knitter!).

I found the pattern for this cozy on this blog, which has lots of other tutorials as well. If you’d like to get into crocheting, she’s got lots of tutorials on how to get started.

Crochet Coffee Cozy – By One Artsy Mama

Materials

  • yarn {your choice of colour}
  • crochet hook, size I/6mm
  • 25-28mm button
  • thread, scissors, needle

Instructions

Foundation: Chain 10
Row 1: sc in second chain from hook and each chain across, turn (9 sc)
Row 2: ch 1, sc in first sc and in each across, turn (9 sc) *Repeat Row 2 until your piece reaches approximately 8 3/4 inches
Buttonhole: ss in first four sc, chain 6, skip fifth sc and ss in last four sc
Border: 2 sc in corner stitch, sc along long edge evenly until you reach the corner. 2 sc in corner stitch, sc along short edge
1 sc in bottom corner and every in every stitch until you reach the final corner, sc once in corner and in first 3 ss, ss in 4th sc, ss in each ten of the button loop, ss in next ss, sc in final 3 stitches.
Join, cut, and tuck ends.
Sew your button in place.

The project took me a little longer than I intended… Mostly because I have three cats who live to tear apart my crocheting projects and as a result, my yarn is a complete 100% tangled mess. The second one I made was much faster. What kind of things to you do when you’re sick?

Oh, and I still haven’t untangled the wool…

  1. Ahh it is one of my goals to take up crocheting… Or sewing…. whichever is easier and I can make cute slippers with! Lol! Hope you’re feeling better – I have a cold right now so I’m marathoning desperate housewives and eating chicken noodle soup by the potful!
